TAKING IT SLŌ

Big changes don't happen overnight, which is why we invest in our future community leaders that can make big changes with time.

The Slō Foundation awards annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have made sizable social impact to their communities, to support them throughout their continued education. We also host a yearly Back To School drive that gives resources to primary and secondary school students.

SOCIAL CHANGE, REWARDED

Chicago is a city built by neighborhoods - each with their own personality and heartbeat. When young people strive to improve their surroundings, it doesn't go unnoticed. We offer financial support for higher education in the hopes that they bring their new knowledge back to foster social change within their communities.

WHAT WE DO

We're here to help Chicago's young people continue their education through our scholarships and donation drives. For questions about us and how we can help your community, please get in touch.

SCHOLARSHIP

Every year, one student receives $1,000 towards their higher education. This money can be used for books, materials, housing or any expense directly related to their schooling.

BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE

Back to school is a big expense for so many families. To help our communities, our network collects donations of school supplies to primary and secondary schools.

SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, we give $1,000 to scholarship recipients to use towards their higher education. This can be used towards universities, community colleges, or trade schools.

ELIGIBILITY

To receive this scholarship students must be working to create significant social change in their community.

Part of the application is an essay from the student speaking to their contribution to making their community a better place.

We require two letters of recommendation from people other than family. This could be community leaders, teachers, mentors, or anyone else willing to speak to the student's work.

USES

Our scholarship goes directly towards higher education. This could be anything from books to tuition fees or any other resources needed to complete the school year.

The Slō Foundation will pay the school directly via check, meaning enrollment into a school is required before payment can be released.

Recipients who maintain passing grades and continue their education will receive their scholarship for up to four years of higher education.

QUESTIONS?

If you have any questions about applying to the scholarship, please get in touch. If getting letters of recommendation isn't possible for you, we will work with you. We're here to help!
